Hippology & Judging

Hippology is the study of horses! This is a great way to learn about the horse.  We are learning all about breeds, markings, colors, .........how to care for horses and ponies, safety, showing, horse show rules, vaccinations, diseases.. etc.  Even the adults learn during Hippology.  If you aren't a member of Hippology, think about joining!!!

You don't have to have a horse to be in hippology or judging.  This is a great introduction to horses and a great way to make new friends.

Judging is exactly that!  Wrangler members form teams and learn all about horse type and conformation, then actually go to competitions and judge real, live horses. This is a great way to increase your horse knowledge, terminology and excell at public speaking all at the same time.

MEETINGS TAKE PLACE JANUARY THRU MARCH EVERY YEAR at the Clover Pavilion  at the 4H fairgrounds. Clinic, Area & State competitions are also available.
......  Please be sure that you enroll by mid December at the extension office so that we may have all of your materials at the first meeting for you.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THE "EQUINE SCIENCE" BOOK THAT IS  RECOMMEND BY THE 4H HORSE AND PONY STATE OFFICE AS PART OF OUR STUDY MATERIAL WILL NOT BE PROVIDED, BUT WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AT THE MEETING.

IT IS SUGGESTED THAT YOU BRING A PENCIL / PEN AND A NOTEBOOK  and a great attitude ALONG.
